The following excellent suggestions for players going from racquetball to squash were gleaned from a post on the U.S. Squash website's forum . . .
  1. Don't try to kill the ball on every shot. Racquetball, at the highest levels, is about shotmaking. They have to convert their thinking to moving the opponent and creating opportunities.
  2. The serve is more defensive than offensive. Very tough thinking for racquetball players.
  3. Vary the pace. Racquetball players typically slam the ball 100 mph every shot.
  4. Vary the height of the shot. Racquetball players typically hit just about everything low.
  5. Learn the lob. The only lob most racquetball players hit is a power ceiling lob, not a soft lob. They have to develop this shot.
  6. Understand the idea of a "working" shot -- pretty much doesn't exist in racquetball where you're trying to hit a winner every time.
  7. Learn the soft boast. Racquetball players do hit boasts, but always hard and low. In squash, there's the defensive boast from the back and the offensive boast from the front that are very effective ... they both pretty much don't exist in racquetball.
