Matlab (local install)


Install Matlab:
You will need to install Matlab, Student Version and the Stats toolbox. These are available from Mathworks for $99 and $59. You can order and download these from Matlab Student Version Guide. You will need to browse as a guest, and select Student as the way you will use the software, to get the special student pricing.

Student versions of many software titles are also available from the NCSU Bookstore, you may need to email connections@ncsu.edu to get Matlab and Stats Toolbax pricing.

Download Matlab files:
Once you have installed the software, you will need to get the specific data and functions these labs will use. Extract the files in this zipfile to some directory on your computer, for example C:\mlab, but you can choose any directory you wish.

Start Matlab:
Select Start Menu->Programs->Matlab Student Version->Matlab from the Start button in the bottom left corner of your screen.

Add your mlab directory: *
These instructions are using the example directory C:\mlab. Please use whatever directories you chose to save the files in.
Select File->Set Path from the top menu bar.
Use the Add Folder button to add C:\mlab to the Search Path.

Import your mlab data from the mdata.mat file: *
Select File->Import Data from the top menu bar.
Choose the mdata.mat file in the file selection dialog and select Open.
Select Finish to load all the vaiables from the mdata file.

* IMPORTANT NOTE: You must attach your mlab directory and load the mdata EVERY time you start Matlab.
