Project rules
The main idea is to critique a paper (or several related papers)
that use stochastic modeling or that you feel could benefit from such
modeling.
The random process should be a CONTINUOUS TIME process or a continuous time
limit should be examined.
The bottom line or deliverable will be 4-10 pages of text (plus additional pages
of figures and figure legends) as a written report and a 15-20 minute oral
presentation to your peers.
The aim of the project is to explore a stochastic model in your research area
or proposed reserach area or some topic you consider interesting. Recall that
a liberal education is sometimes more than going to a seminar
outside of your thesis area.
