An important part of acquiring professional skills is awareness of the activities of other places
and disciplines. In addition to the daily activities involving statistical research and teaching at the
University, I try to get acquainted with current research at other places and disciplines by means of
various area activities, including attending seminars, conferences, workshops. This creates an opportunity
for me to gain exposure to important applications which provide excellent motivation for new research directions.
